Shinmiyangyo(Korean Expedition) is a battle between Joseon and the United States on June 1, 1871. Citing the responsibility of the General Sherman incident and the reason for trade negotiations, the U.S. military has traced back to Ganghwa Strait, which was the main waterway of Joseon. In addition, the war broke out by ignoring Joseon's rejection and attempting to invade by force. As a result of the three-day battle, Gwangseongbo was captured, and many soldiers, including Eo Jae-Yeon, died. The U.S. Navy was stationed for 20 days demanding trade but withdrew without any negotiations due to Joseon's policy of closing the country. After Sinmiyangyo, Joseon established a monument and strengthened its policy of closing the country.
